Renascent’s Road to Recovery Walkathon/Run Raises Over $15K for Addiction Treatment to Help Those in Need

TORONTO, Ont. (October 21, 2021) – Walkers and runners alike, laced up their shoes throughout September to participate in Renascent’s Road to Recovery Walkathon/Run to raise funds for Renascent’s addiction treatment programs and services. The month-long event, raised $15,500 for Renascent to provide accessible addiction treatment to those in need.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our participants and donors, who raised much-needed funds for our life-saving programs,” said Laura Bhoi, CEO, Renascent. “Their efforts help us ensure cost is not a barrier for many people who are seeking addiction treatment, and go a long way toward helping people reclaim their lives as they recover from this illness.”

Road to Recovery Walkathon/Run celebrated its second year in 2021. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held virtually, with teams choosing to gather at select locations across the Greater Toronto Area to walk/run together in support of Renascent. Some took advantage of the sunny September weather and also used the event as an opportunity for fellowship.

September is Recovery Month and Road to Recovery Walkathon/Run was one of many events Renascent hosted to raise funds, increase awareness of addiction recovery, and challenge the stigma associated with addiction. Renascent’s Road to Recovery Walkathon/Run was made possible through the generosity of its presenting sponsor Comeback Snacks, as well as many other community and business supporters.

“Donors play an integral role in Renascent’s ability to carry out its mission and we are grateful for the support that the event received again this year,” Tania Archer, Director of Business Development and Philanthropy. “We are proud of the many participants who chose to walk or run for others who are still struggling with his deadly illness and we look forward to hosting a larger in-person event in 2022.”
