About the Position:

Reporting to the Manager at the Madison Treatment Centre, the Relief Program Assistant is responsible for the delivery of Renascent’s programs and services to males and those who identify as male that are experiencing addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reports to evening Counsellor for review of census and special assignments. 
  • Assures the safety of the treatment centre and its occupants at night. This includes checking all doors and windows and touring the entire house hourly. 
  • Centre duties as assigned by management, including light housekeeping, record keeping and clerical duties. 
  • Resolves any client conflicts in an effective and timely manner. 
  • Responds to calls and provides information on Renascent’s programs and services. 
  • Makes notes and reports any problems to the Counsellor arriving at 6:30 am shift next morning 
  • Night shift position (hours to be discussed). 
  • Must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Lived experience of addiction and recovery and active involvement in a 12-Step program for alcoholism/addiction required. 
  • A minimum of three years of continuous sobriety is preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written are essential, including an ability to share life experience for the benefit of the clients. 
  • Completion of course-work for certification as an Addiction Counsellor is an asset.
