Renascent is pleased to announce an important transition within its Board of Directors. After serving as Chair of Renascent Fellowship and Renascent Foundation Boards since 2017, Sue Jaffe has transitioned from her role as Board Chair to Immediate Past Chair, and will continue to be a member of Renascent’s Board over the next year.
Karen Martin, who has been serving as a Board Director on the Renascent Fellowship Board since 2019, has taken on the role of Board Chair, as elected by the Renascent Fellowship and Renascent Foundation Boards at the September Board Meeting.
“On behalf of Renascent’s clients, teams and communities, I extend heartfelt gratitude for Sue’s extraordinary service as Board Chair. We are grateful for the dedication, passion and leadership Sue has provided over her term, and look forward to work with her in her new role,” said Laura Bhoi, CEO, Renascent Fellowship and Renascent Foundation. “Over her more than 15 years serving Renascent, Sue has volunteered countless hours participating in meetings with community partners, donors, staff, and the government; working to support our teams, promote Renascent’s Mission, and advocate for organizational resources. In her role as Chair, Sue shared her extensive leadership and advocacy experience with Renascent, helping Renascent to build its programs, and resources over this time”

Martin is currently Chief Practice Information Officer (CPIO) and Executive Director, Nursing and Health Professions Practice for University Health Network (UHN), and has held numerous respected clinical and leadership roles in the health care, and the social services sectors. Prior to her current role at UHN, Karen was Executive Director of Clinical Information Transformation at the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health (CAMH), where she was the organizational lead for the procurement, design, build and implementation of CAMH’s clinical information system.
“We are delighted that Karen Martin is taking on this leadership role during a crucial time in the organization’s history. We are thankful for her invaluable leadership and support,” said Laura Bhoi, CEO, Renascent Fellowship and Renascent Foundation. “Karen is passionate about impacting change across the addiction and mental health sector, and as a Board Member has been deeply involved in the development of Renascent’s ambitious strategic plan.”
