Poetry Corner: Facing Me

by Juanita P. (Family Program)

Facing Me

If I truly want to be
All that I can be,
The person that I have to face
Ultimately is me.

Don’t be afraid to look deep down
And see what lives inside,
The only way you can be free
Is if you’re determined
Not to hide.

Confront the demons
Of the past
And look into their eyes,
The courage that it takes to stand,
Will truly make you wise.

The things you see
Will not be nice,
Fear will try to make you quit,
But step by step
As you move on,
The pieces all will fit.
