Connection is the essence of life. Recovery is sustained through connection, as the opposite of addiction is connection. Connection creates a bond between people, a sense of trust, and a place where one feels valued. When trust is broken, the connection wanes. Yet, when a feeling of non-judgement fills the air, people can connect with those gathered there. It is in relationships that we find hope, find recovery, and find love.

Even in the darkest times, connection can bring us through as we light each other’s candles. We shine light on the dark path together and face whatever journey lies ahead. Though the path may not be straight and the end is not in sight, connection guides us through to the morning light. It is what keeps us strong when the storms of life come, leading to the rainbow after the storm.  As birds flock together, so must we come together in the storms of life. There is hope on the horizon as the lighthouse lights our way.  When we stand together, we will be shown the way.

Connection with our higher power is essential indeed, for it guides our path and direction when we cannot see.  The footprints in the sand.  The time when all seems lost, our higher power carries us through the forest from above. Let us rely on that power as we connect with one another. Find a place of non-judgment and a place where we are valued. For our higher power loves us just the way we are, so let us love one another as the journey of life unfolds.
