By Cynthia T., Renascent Alumni
Through a cold, dark and miserable time
Oh hear me as I say this rhyme!
My eyes are blind and cannot see
How my life has came to be?
Without tears I bleed and fight
I try so hard with all my might
Another day, month and year go by
Hoping one day that I may try
To see what has happened to me
Why won’t this torture just let me be?
Oh what is that? The light I see?
Maybe just maybe I will see me!
I dig some more to only find
The darkness that has kept me bind
As I crawl out of the hole and see
A friendly smile extending a hand to me
I get up and wipe the tears and dirt from my eyes
I can finally look up and see blue skies
This is my poem, that is my rhyme
To tell you what Renascent has done for me this time
With what joy, hope, laughter and glee
And hardwork, willingness, patience and wisdom you see
I have a life, because I have been sent free.
