About the Position

Renascent, accredited leader in addiction and mental health treatment, is building its medical team, and has a part-time opportunity for an Addiction Medicine Physician at Renascent’s Whitby, Ontario, site.

Opportunity: Fee-for Service, plus stipend; on-site office space provided.

Compensation: $5,000 Monthly

As a physician with experience in addiction and mental health treatment, you will have an integral role in the delivery of Renascent’s comprehensive, evidence-based addiction and mental health programs. The individual will contribute to the truly remarkable therapeutic environment at Renascent, founded in compassion and behavioural, social, spiritual and medical best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing trauma-informed, recovery supportive medical care to substance use disorder clients in treatment at Renascent live-in Centre in Brooklin, Ontario.
  • Provision of medical assessments, continued medical care throughout clients’ treatment, supporting transition of care upon discharge from program.
  • Applying evidence based medical interventions including opioid agonist therapy and other medication management to meet the needs of clients with varied presentation of substance use disorder and concurrent mental health challenges.
  • Overseeing withdrawal management protocols or referral to medical withdrawal management centres as appropriate.
  • Provide basic primary care in order to bridge patient stay in live-in care.
  • Support stabilization of client mental health through evidence-based interventions and/or referral to psychiatric specific medical care.

Qualifications

  • Membership with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Canadian Medical Protective Association
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in addiction treatment and medical practice
