Our Team

Boards of Directors

Renascent is comprised of two strategically aligned organizations, each governed by its own Board of Directors.

Renascent Fellowship is governed by the Renascent Fellowship Board of Directors and is an accredited leader in the provision of addiction treatment services in Ontario.

Renascent Foundation is governed by the Renascent Foundation Board, and is dedicated to supporting the work of the Renascent Fellowship through revenue generation and asset management.

All Board members have a passion to help people recover from substance addictions so that they can reach their full potential — with compassion, respect, empathy, and understanding.

Together, the two Boards of Directors work in a joint manner to provide strategic governance and direction to the organizations.

Karen Martin

Chair, Renascent Fellowship and Renascent Foundation Boards
Chief Practice Information Officer (CPIO) and Senior Director Health Professions & Practice Transformation for University Health Network (UHN). Through both of these roles, Karen is responsible for creating and implementing clinical practice and digital transformation mandates for UHN. With overall accountability for Health Professions Practice across the 4 hospitals of UHN, Karen provides corporation-wide leadership for directors, managers, clinical leaders and point-of-care staff. Karen additionally holds operational accountability for Spiritual Care and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) clinical services for UHN. Karen has held a number of progressive clinical & leadership positions in healthcare and the social services sector; most recently, prior to UHN, as Executive Director for Clinical Information Transformation at the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health (CAMH), where she was the organizational lead for the procurement, design, build and implementation of CAMH’s clinical information system. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (Dalhousie University) and a Master of Social Work Degree (with Distinction) & Graduate Diploma in Social Administration (both, Wilfrid Laurier University). Ron Brooks

Treasurer, Renascent Fellowship and Renascent Foundation Boards
I am a finance professional with extensive experience as Chief Financial Officer of both private and public companies in North America, a Bank executive, Board Member, and Financial Consultant. I am presently, CFO of a major Credit Union in Hamilton and am a Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Global Financial Group of Companies with Assets Under Administration of $1 billion. I am a CPA, CA, and I hold the designation ICD.D after completing the Directors Education Program at Rotman School of Management in 2016.

James Clarkson

Renascent Fellowship
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), who is the Managing Director and Treasurer of the Toronto Transit Commission Pension Fund Society (TTCPFS). With almost approximately 20 years of experience in the financial industry, my background includes progressively senior roles at Ernst & Young LLP on the Assurance Advisory Business Solutions team, Financial Services at London Capital Management (Investment Management division at London Life Insurance Company), and at Kraft Foods. As the Managing Director and Head of Finance at the TTCPFS, he oversees a number of functions including the annual external audit of approximately $8 billion of invested capital (head of Audit Committee), employee benefits, payroll for retirees and staff, expense budgets and is a regular presenter at all Board and Annual General Meetings. Involved in the high level strategic planning for the TTCPFS alongside the CEO, Managing Director of Investments and Director of Administration. He attended the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and obtained an Honors Business Administration degree. Lastly, he has been actively engaged in a number of volunteer roles, which included Ambassador for the RBC Run for the Kids, to support access for mental health services for youth, and currently also volunteers as a Director for the United Church Pension Plan Advisory Committee. In his spare time, he enjoys running and skiing.

Christie Gray

Renascent Fellowship
Christie Gray is a seasoned Human Resources professional with over 15 years of experience in various industries, including technology, healthcare, and mining. Currently at Rival Insurance Technology, Christie brings extensive expertise in culture building, workforce planning, and conflict resolution. Her career has been marked by a strong commitment to aligning HR strategies with organizational goals, fostering inclusive cultures, and driving employee engagement and development. Christie has successfully led initiatives that significantly reduced turnover rates and enhanced employee satisfaction across multiple organizations. Christie is a certified Senior Human Resources Professional (International) and is deeply committed to continuous learning and professional development, including specialized training in First Nations Relations, AI in HR, and People Strategy. In addition to her professional achievements, Christie is an active community volunteer and serves as the Founder of Sunlight of the Spirit and Board Chair at F.L.O.W Drop IN. Her passion for supporting mental health and addiction recovery aligns closely with the mission of the Renascent Foundation, where she is eager to contribute her skills and experience as a newly elected member of the Board of Directors. In her spare time, Christie enjoys engaging in community service, yoga, and paddle boarding.

Sajjad Mahmood

Renascent Fellowship
Sajjad has over 25 years of experience in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, M&A and financial restructuring transactions, and currently serves as the Managing Director of Alchemy Capital Partners. Prior to founding Alchemy, Sajjad’s prior professional experience includes leading the Knowledge Based Industries group for Ernst & Young Corporate Finance (Canada), heading M&A for an investment fund backed by three of the U.A.E.’s sovereign wealth funds, leading private equity investments for a multi-billion dollar single family office and working in the TMT investment banking groups of Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. (now Raymond James Financial) and Wachovia Securities Inc. (now Wells Fargo Securities) in the United States. Sajjad earned a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (Honors and Distinction) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and holds the Corporate Finance qualification awarded by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Manu Sud

Renascent Fellowship
Manu Sud joined the Renascent Board in 2019. He is a seasoned executive leader in the field of Business Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence and focuses on using analytics and innovation to improve policies and programs. He has a strong academic background in Engineering, Law, Sciences and Business. With more than 15 years of progressively senior management positions, Manu has broad experience across multiple sectors and organizations including federal and state Governments, IT, Finance, Automotive, Crown corporation, hospitals, and academia. Manu is a published author and has received numerous awards including Ontario Government’s Amethyst Award.

Fardous Hosseiny

Renascent Fellowship
Fardous Hosseiny is the President and CEO at the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families (formerly, the Centre of Excellence on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Related Mental Health Conditions), located at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre in Ottawa. Before coming to the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families, Fardous was most recently the interim National Chief Executive Officer and the National Director of Research and Public Policy, at the Canadian Mental Health Association. His research focuses on strategic policy issues related to mental health system transformation, parity legislation, Veteran and their Families mental health, substance use and addiction and mental health for newcomers and underrepresented groups. Fardous is also a frequent commentator on these issues for Global News, CBC, CTV News, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, among others. Fardous was a part of the Canadian delegation to the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly and played a role in the development of the first ever United Nations event dedicated to mental health. Fardous also serves on many national and international committees, including as an executive advisor on the Global Alliance for Mental Health Advocates (GAMHA) and past co-chair for the Canadian Alliance for Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) and Canadians forEquitable Access to Depression Medication (CEADM).

Nicholas Banfield

Renascent Fellowship
Nick has been a member of the Recovery Shot Golf Tournament committee and was elected to the Renascent Fellowship Board of Directors in September 2022. He is a graduate of McMaster University and a decade-long veteran of the financial industry; most recently at RBC Dominion Securities where he advised on wealth creation and preservation strategies for high net worth individuals and business owners. Today Nick volunteers his time to non-profit organizations and start-up companies, while focusing on his passion for investing. In his spare time he enjoys snowboarding, travelling, and learning new skills. He has recently completed private investigator training and is currently working on obtaining his Transport Canada Private Pilot licensing.

Tim Russ

Renascent Fellowship
Managing Director at RUSSULTS, a private healthcare consultancy. Tim has over twenty-five years of experience in the healthcare industry in a variety of roles. He provides support to clients in terms of go-to-market strategies for new products, mentoring healthcare start-ups in the FemTech space and consultation on the creation of new private medical clinics. Tim has owned and operated his own fertility and acne clinics and has been involved in the creation of new clinics across Canada. Tim has held several positions over the years in sales, marketing and business development of pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device products. He has also directly launched multiple products to the Canadian market as well as helping clients launch products nationally and internationally. Currently, he is a mentor and Advisory Board Member for several innovation and accelerator programs that are affiliated with Canadian Universities and FemTech organizations. Tim is currently enrolled in the Healthcare Management certificate program at Cornell University. He received his MBA from the Schulich School of Business in finance and marketing and his B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario in neuropsychology and biology.

Money Khoromi

Renascent Foundation
Money Khoromi is an associate at Goodmans LLP, a full service corporate law firm. His practice focuses in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities and general corporate law. Money acts for issuers and agents on public offerings, private placements, continuous disclosure obligations, general securities compliance, corporate governance matters and more. Money holds a B.A.Sc. (Industrial Engineering) from the University of Toronto, a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. Over the course of his legal studies, Money was the recipient of numerous awards for academic standing including the Hennick Gold Medal for Academic Excellence awarded each year to the top student graduating from the Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business Joint JD/MBA Program with the highest cumulative GPA. Prior to joining Goodmans, Money worked as an associate in the Business Law & Capital Markets group McMillan LLP, an international business law firm.

Melanie Ormston

Renascent Foundation
Melanie Ormston is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) with 20 years of progressive experience in fundraising, including nine years in leadership positions at national non-profits developing best-in-class donor relations programs and leading fundraising teams to success. Melanie is the Senior Manager of Donor Relations and Stewardship at Parkinson Canada. Here, she has built a high-performing donor relations program from the ground up, improving donor and revenue retention. Previously, she did the same for Kids Help Phone and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps, following her many years leading corporate and community fundraising teams at the Canadian Cancer Society to exceed revenue goals. Ensuring people can access quality health care – and that cost is never a barrier – is at the heart of Melanie’s career and lifetime commitment to giving, which began with volunteering as a young child and continues with her role on the Renascent Board of Directors.

John Skinner

Renascent Foundation
John Skinner joined the Renascent Foundation Board of Directors in 2024. He is a seasoned consultant with extensive experience in executive compensation, financial performance analysis and corporate governance. As a Principal at Hugessen Consulting, John advises boards and senior management on critical governance and compensation matters, helping organizations navigate complex regulatory environments while ensuring alignment with long-term business goals. John has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

Russell Evans

Renascent Foundation
Russell Evans is a seasoned communications executive with over 20 years of experience in strategic marketing and brand building. Inspired by his dad’s sobriety journey and his contributions as a Renascent House counsellor, Russell is proud to join the Board of the Renascent Foundation. His professional background includes leadership roles at CAAT Pension Plan, PwC, and Foresters Financial. Holding dual MBAs from Cornell and Queen’s Universities, Russell brings a unique blend of innovation, storytelling expertise, and business acumen to his position at Renascent, continuing a family tradition of service.

Leah Bryce

Renascent Foundation
Seasoned executive leader and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), with over 15 years’ experience in audit and over 8 years’ experience in risk and controls oversight. Currently, Associate Vice-President at TD Bank Group, responsible for risk programs, incident management, issues management, conduct risk and culture oversight, and controls testing for TD Wealth Canada. Prior to joining TD, Leah spent 10 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in progressively senior roles, specializing in financial statement audits in the financial services industry. Leah obtained an Honours in Bachelor of Commerce at University of Toronto.

Margery Konan

Renascent Foundation
Margery Konan joined the Renascent Board in 2023. She is currently a Manager for Integrated Care within the East Toronto Health Partners Ontario Health Team. Ontario Health Teams are a key initiative of the Ontario government to organize and deliver health & social care that is more connected to patients in their local communities. Through her career Margery has held leadership roles in local health system planning and has bee involved in research and publications in the field of home care. She is committed to work toward equity-advancing, client- centred and evidence-based systems of care. Margery has volunteered for over 10 years supporting teenaged relatives affected by a parent’s alcoholism or addiction. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Queen's University and Bachelor of Science degree from University of Toronto as well as a Certificate in Integrated Care from the International Foundation for Integrated Care.

David Struthers

Renascent Foundation
David Struthers has served on the Board of Directors since September 2022. He is a member of the Property Committee and brings nearly twenty years of commercial real estate experience to Renascent. In his professional career David is Vice President, Real Estate Investment at TD Asset Management. In this role, David manages a commercial real estate investment fund valued at approximately $18 billion (CND) on behalf on institutional investors. Prior to his current position at TD, David held senior real estate asset management positions at leasing Canadian and global real estate firms. David has two teenaged children and wonderful spouse who is in the field of front-line emergency medicine. Though his wife’s work David became aware of impact of addiction and he is now privileged to use is professional experience to serve the Renascent organization. When he’s not spending time with his family or working, David enjoys surfing, mountain biking and swimming.

Laura Bhoi

Chief Executive Officer
Laura joined Renascent in the role of Chief Executive Officer in September 2016. As a passionate leader of addiction and mental health care services, Laura is committed to working with the Renascent team in helping people affected by addictions achieve a life of physical, mental and spiritual health. Prior to working at Renascent, Laura held senior executive roles at Toronto-based addiction treatment centre, Bellwood Health Services, including the position of President from 2009 until 2015. Laura’s career also encompasses marketing management in the private sector and working with the hospital sector for the Ontario Ministry of Health. Laura earned a B.A. in Psychology (Honours) at Queen’s University, an MBA in Health Services Management at McMaster University and a Certificate in Addiction Studies, also at McMaster. From 2016 until 2024, Laura served as a member of the Board of Directors, York Region and South Simcoe, Canadian Mental Health Association, including in the role of Chair of the Board from 2022 to 2024. Laura has a track record of driving quality excellence and client-centred care, and fostering an environment of community engagement. She believes strongly in the power of people to come together to beat addiction, and create pathways to recovery and renewed health and hope.

Tania Archer

Director, Business Development and Philanthropy
Tania is responsible for overseeing Renascent’s business development and philanthropy teams, she works to develop and support business goals and fosters key relationships with our stakeholders, and partners within our community. Tania also oversees our client care access and engagement team, the initial point of contact and entry for all those seeking Renascent’s services. Tania began her career at Renascent in 2011 as Alumni Care Manager, after achieving her certificate in Addictions and Community Services. Prior to joining us, Tania worked in sales and marketing for one of the world’s largest brands for nearly 20 years.
“My goal is to foster a person-centric approach to achieve Renascent’s mission and to uphold excellence in all of our interactions with clients, donors, and partners to deliver life-saving care to members of our communities impacted by drug and alcohol addiction. They reach out to us at the most vulnerable point in their lives — we take that trust seriously and honour it every step of the way.”

Venkata Marella

Director of Finance and Administration
Venkata is a seasoned Finance professional focused on business improvement and supporting boards and senior leadership teams in strategy execution. He has extensive experience in financial leadership and corporate services roles including Information Technology, Corporate Governance, Human Resources, Administration and Facilities Management within the non-profit and for-profit sectors, and is experienced working with governments and systems within the non-profit/charitable sector. He is very tech savvy having implemented various software systems during his career and focused on leveraging technology to improve business processes and reporting. Venkata holds his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) from Canada and the United States, and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) from India.

Michael Lochran

Director, Programs and Operations
Michael Lochran managed our Renascent Madison Avenue Centre for nearly five years, following two years of being an addictions counsellor at the centre. Prior to coming to Renascent, Michael worked as a chef in fine dining restaurants and had a passion for training and mentoring young men and women entering the culinary industry.
“It takes courage to enter treatment and step out of the painful, yet familiar chains of active addiction. Renascent is a home for men and women who have made a decision that their life as they have been living it is no longer acceptable. It is beautiful to see the glimmer of hope appear in the eyes of an addict who has begun to believe the miracle of recovery is possible for them as well. I feel privileged to be able to participate in creating a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for men to assume responsibility for their lives and become husbands, fathers, sons, and members of society they can be proud of.”

Hayley Bloom

Associate Director of Programs
Hayley Bloom possesses over fifteen years of working experience in the social services sector working in a variety of different settings and areas of service. The majority of her work has been focused on advocacy with marginalized populations struggling with substance abuse, mental health and homelessness. Hayley has successfully launched, directed and managed small to large scale programs and has led and supervised various clinical teams through intensive change management and transformations. Over the past six years, Hayley has developed and led multi-disciplinary teams in the mental health, addiction and housing sectors creating new and innovative systems for service users utilizing a variety of quality improvement initiatives and strategies. She is committed to developing and providing person and client centred services. Hayley is an energetic and compassionate leader with a passion for coaching and mentoring teams to reach their fullest potential. While she’s not working, you can find her on long nature walks with her dog or tackling a new recipe in the kitchen.

Nadine Buchanan

CHRL Associate Director, Human Resources
Nadine Buchanan has over 20 years of experience of Human Resources, focused specifically on delivering quality support to not-for-profit organizations. She is a Certified Human Resources Leader and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration.

Dr. Vera Tarman

Medical Director
Dr. Tarman, MD, FCFP, ABAM, is a Medical Director at Renascent. As an addiction specialist, she also works as consultant for Salvation Army’s The Homestead and The Harbourlight treatment programs. She has worked in the field of addiction medicine since 1992 and is committed to her patients’ care and full recovery.

Dr. Matthew Stefanoff

Medical Director, Renascent Paul J. Sullivan Centre
Dr. Matthew Stefanoff’s interest in addiction medicine began in medical school when he worked at an Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) clinic and noted the inter-professional collaboration among pharmacists, social workers, therapists, counsellors, and physicians to help their clients. Having worked at the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health as a program assistant in the Emergency Department, Dr. Stefanoff saw first-hand the acute phase of addiction management, from intoxication to withdrawal management, along with the social struggles often associated with the illness. After completing his residency at the University of Toronto in family and community medicine based at Scarborough General Hospital, Dr. Stefanoff worked at an OAT clinic in Oshawa where he also started a family practice. Having seen many clients struggling with alcohol and opioids transform their lives, Dr. Stefanoff is interested in expanding the use of anti-craving medication prescriptions to primary care.

Dr. Dale Ryan

Medical Director, Renascent Madison Avenue Centre
Dr. Ryan is an accomplished physician who brings a high level of expertise in Inner City Health, Addiction Medicine, and the current Opioid Crisis to his role at Renascent. Having completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto, Dr. Ryan has worked as a physician at St. Michael’s Hospital and at AMS, as well as in several other Opioid Agonist Treatment clinics in the Greater Toronto Area. He was also a Hospitalist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and later assumed a role at the Toronto South Detention Centre, where he saw firsthand the potential forensic consequences of individuals struggling with substance abuse. Currently, Dr. Ryan also serves as an Investigating Coroner for the Office of the Chief Coroner for the Province of Ontario and provides a highly sought-after perspective on substance abuse.

Glen Adams

Manager, Client Care Access and Engagement
In 2016, Glen became the Manager of Client Care Access and Engagement. He provides clinical supervision and oversees the daily operations pertaining to client screening, intake, and comprehensive assessments of clients seeking to enter inpatient treatment, as well as providing support for business development initiatives. Glen came to Renascent as a student intern in 2009. After completing his placement, he filled the role as Alumni Manager until becoming a Counsellor at the Renascent Paul J. Sullivan Centre in Brooklin, ON. During this time, Glen continued with his education and certifications, becoming an International Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counsellor and a Registered Psychotherapist specializing in concurrent disorders.
“The most fundamental of all questions is whether clients are suffering from a disease? The answer unequivocally is yes! At Renascent, we instill this knowledge in each and every client, which allows them to discern that there is required management involved. It also helps to alleviate the incredible guilt and shame that is associated with addiction, as a great deal of the symptoms appear as bad behaviour. They have first hand experience that if they do not manage their disease, their disease will manage them. We hand them the tools to ensure this need not happen ever again.”

Sunil Boodhai MSW (RSW), BEd.

Manager, Outpatient and Family Programs
Sunil Boodhai MSW (RSW), BEd. – Manager, Outpatient and Family Programs Before coming to Renascent, Sunil was a front-line counsellor with Warden Woods Community Centre’s Substance Use Outreach Program. He was deeply touched by how often his clients would express great concern for how their addiction was affecting their family members. This resonated with Sunil on both a human and a personal level; members of Sunil’s family have experienced their own struggles with addiction. Sunil’s experience with his Warden Woods clients led him to look for an environment in which he could work with families impacted by addiction. His search led him to Renascent. Sunil did his undergraduate work and MSW at Ryerson University, as well as a Humanities degree and Bachelor of Education degree at York University. He has been working as an addictions counsellor for over 12 years.
“Walking into Renascent, it literally felt like magic. Discovering that my own lived experience with the addicts in my life could be useful, realizing that family members had a place here where their own needs could be met, and that I would be able to hear them and help them, gave me such a feeling of comfort and peace. This is the place for me.”

John Bushell

Manager, Virtual Intensive Treatment Program
John Bushell joined Renascent as a student placement in 2011, and has been a full-time clinician since 2015. John was a long-standing member of the Renascent Madison Avenue Centre Team until his shift to managing the Virtual Intensive Treatment Program in 2023. During his time at Renascent, John has remained a strong believer that recovery can take many forms and has always led with person centered care. John has been an active member of Renascent’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee since its inception in 2017, and focuses on promoting interagency collaboration in order to support the diverse populations that access Renascent’s programs.
“I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team, and know that the Virtual Intensive Treatment Program, as well as Renascent’s other treatment programs have a long-lasting impact on the people we serve.”

David Charlton

Manager, Renascent Paul J. Sullivan Centre
David Charlton is a Renascent Alumni with over ten years of counselling experience in the addictions and mental health field. David completed his student placement with Renascent Paul J. Sullivan Centre (Sullivan Centre) in 2015, and went on to hone his clinical skills working in both live-in and outpatient settings, treating people with substance use disorders and mental health issues. David returned to Sullivan Centre as the Assistant Manager in 2023, with experience focused in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and 12-Step Recovery. David views his vocation as helping people who want to find a new way to live free from active addiction, and supporting the counsellors who work with them. In 2024, David became Manager of Sullivan Centre where he oversees the daily operations of live-in treatment, provides clinical supervision, and coordinates with the many other skillful teams at Renascent to provide consistently high standards of client care.

Alessandro Motta

Manager of Program Quality Measurement and Improvement
Alessandro joined Renascent in 2015 as a volunteer and later transitioned to a full-time counsellor role at the organization’s Client Care Access and Engagement Centre, while concurrently studying addictions and mental health at Ryerson University. Alessandro later led Renascent’s innovative Virtual Intensive Treatment Program (VITP) from June 2020, until he became Manager of Program Quality Measurement and Improvement in November 2022. In his current role, Alessandro leads an array of strategic initiatives at Renascent and works with Renascent’s leadership teams and stakeholders to improve the organization’s processes, programs, services, and culture to achieve long-term success stemming from customer feedback and measurement.

Christina Selvaggio

Manager, Philanthropy
Christina has been involved with Renascent since 2017, and quickly transitioned to Manager of Philanthropy in the fall of 2020. Now, Christina leads the fund development team in its mission to support and deliver barrier-free access to addiction services. Christina developed a strong sense of devotion for the nonprofit sector, growing up with philanthropy routed at the core of family values. Christina has been fundraising since she was 5 years old, driving focus to social change through various fundraising activities and events. Christina is a founding member of her local Parish Youth Group; she collaborated to build various youth-focused programs that supported transitional-aged youth in finding healing through a rooted connection to the community through spirituality. Working on this program’s development was one of Christina’s first experiences with community building, and gave her a deep appreciation for how nonprofits seek to improve the quality of life, one dollar at a time. Christina has over 10 years’ of fundraising experience working in the nonprofit sector before coming to Renascent. She has worked in the social service sector and health-care sector working building and executing the strategic development of targeted donor groups. Her priorities include creating sustainable and stewardship-focused relationships that will support individual access to barrier-free programs and services. Christina is currently in the final stage of obtaining her CFRE designation. When Christina isn’t working, she is volunteering in the community, practicing mindfulness and yoga meditation, and spending time with her fur-baby Luna.

Abshir Stock Yusuf

Manager, Renascent Madison Avenue Centre
Abshir brings his infectious passion for evidence based 12-step treatment and an inexhaustible ability to bring people and organizations together to meet the needs of our clients. During his time as a member of the Renascent Madison Avenue Centre counselling team, Abshir strengthened Renascent’s relationships with other community service providers and was instrumental in connecting clients with safe supportive housing, mental health resources, and the recovery community through active engagement with alumni and contacts.
“I’m truly grateful for this opportunity to support and guide the members of the Renascent Madison Avenue Centre. I’m excited and honoured to take on this new role and continue to provide the unequivocal services and programs that Renascent offers its clients as well as their loved ones. My goal is to remove barriers to ensure equitable access to Renascent’s services for all of Toronto’s communities. My respect and admiration for all that we do here at Renascent has continued to grow since my arrival in September 2016, and I’m sure that it will continue to grow exponentially while serving in this new capacity.”

Isaiah Gayle

Manager, Community Relations and Partnerships
Isaiah joined Renascent as a placement student in January 2016, and since then has taken on various roles across the organization. Isaiah has supported Renascent’s mission working on the front-lines and in administrative offices. From performing clinical roles in the organization’s Client Care and Access Center as an addiction counsellor, to administrative roles focused on revenue generation with the Renascent Business Development Team, Isaiah’s commitment to enabling high-quality client care shines through. In his current role, Isaiah manages the Renascent Community Relations and Partnerships Team, which focus on developing and maintaining relationships with essential community and business stakeholders. Isaiah is one of the founding members of Renascent’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which works to embed principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion across Renascent, and promote discussions on the multiple issues facing marginalized and racialized individuals, especially in accessing treatment and care for addiction and mental health concerns.

Donna Harris

Manager, Marketing and Communications
Donna has built a 20+ year career in marketing, communications, and public relations, with experience that spans both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Donna has predominantly worked within in the health care and social services sectors, and has focused her life’s work on serving the most vulnerable in our society. In her role as Manager, Marketing and Communications, Donna works to increase awareness of Renascent’s programs and services, and engage stakeholders in conversations about improved access to mental health supports and addiction treatment. As Renascent’s brand steward, Donna is passionate about using storytelling to demonstrate the impact of the organization’s work and to show that recovery from addiction is possible.
