Breaking the Cycle, Healing Together

Our Children’s Program supports kids aged 7 to 12 in understanding how addiction has affected their family and in building skills to help break the cycle. We offer both online and in-person options.

Children’s Healthy Coping Skills

This four-day retreat offers specialized support for children alongside interactive therapy sessions for parents and caregivers. It’s designed to strengthen family healing and nurture lasting connections.

Together, families share a meaningful experience rooted in community, compassion, and growth. Children and adults gain tools to work through past challenges and begin building a strong foundation for lifelong recovery.

Parents also deepen their understanding of addiction, rebuild trust, and create healthy routines that support both personal and family well-being.

How the Program Works

  • Duration: 4 days (Typically from a Thursday to Sunday)
  • Family involvement: At least one parent or caregiver (not in active addiction) participates in our Adult Program alongside their child
  • Format: Children and parents/caregivers attend separate sessions
  • Ongoing support: Graduates can join Children’s Check-In Alumni Nights to reconnect, share, and continue building coping skills

What Children Learn

  • About addiction and recovery, in a safe and age-appropriate way
  • Ways to express their thoughts and feelings about themselves and their families
  • Problem-solving and self-care skills

What Parents/Caregivers Gain

  • An understanding of addiction’s impact on their children
  • Skills to support their children’s and family’s recovery
  • Enhanced parenting and caregiving strategies

Children’s Check-In Alumni Night

Held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, this gathering helps kids reconnect with counsellors and peers in a safe, fun, and supportive setting. It focuses on group sharing, coping strategies, and boosting self-esteem.

One-on-One Counselling for Children and Other Family Members

Sometimes, personal support can make all the difference.

Renascent’s family counsellors bring both professional expertise and personal experience to their work. Many know firsthand what it’s like to support a loved one with addiction.
Through one-on-one counselling (typically one-hour sessions), they help clients aged 7 through adult focus on their own healing, at their own pace.

Counselling can help you:

  • Identify your needs and explore meaningful solutions
  • Set and maintain healthy boundaries
  • Create a personal and family recovery plan
