That’s why Renascent’s Essential Family Care Programs are designed to support everyone impacted by a loved one’s substance use: children, parents, partners, siblings, extended family, and close friends.
Designed by leading family and addiction expert Dr. Robert Ackerman, these programs help families heal together or individually, whether or not their loved one is in treatment.
Whether you’re just beginning to understand how addiction has affected your family or you need support to sustain your healing, we’re here to help every step of the way.
Whether your loved one is in active addiction, treatment, or early recovery, it’s important to understand how these experiences shape your own wellbeing. Renascent’s Introduction to Family Care program provides the education and support you need to begin your own healing journey.
This four-week program helps family members learn about addiction and recovery in a safe, supportive environment. Each week includes a professionally facilitated group session led by a Renascent family counsellor, with optional one-on-one counselling available for more personalized support.
Participants also receive online access to program materials, including videos, presentations, and a workbook, so they can review the content and apply it to their own lives. Attendance at Al-Anon meetings is encouraged to complement the learning and connect with others on a similar path.
You do not need to have a family member in a Renascent treatment program to participate. This program is open to anyone impacted by a loved one’s addiction, including Al-Anon members seeking additional education and support.
enascent’s family counsellors bring both lived experience and clinical expertise to their work, offering meaningful guidance to help you move forward at your own pace.
One-on-one counselling is available for individuals aged 7 and older. Sessions are typically one hour and are tailored to your needs.
Helping a loved one enter treatment is an important goal, and a well-planned intervention can break through denial, encourage honest conversation, and become a turning point for the entire family. Renascent offers support and guidance to help you prepare for this crucial step.
Relapse can be one of the most difficult experiences for families in recovery. It may impact trust, communication, and emotional safety. Learn how Renascent supports families during these challenges through our Continuing Care programs.
Renascent’s family programs receive no government funding. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we are able to offer life-changing support to families who need it, regardless of their financial circumstances.
