About the Position:

The Assistant Manager is accountable to the House Manager, for the supervision
of the direct service workers and support staff whom will be reporting directly to
them in accordance with the program objectives and guidelines. They may also be
responsible for their own caseload or may be required to assist in caseloads of
direct service workers under their supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to assist the counselors with the more complex family issues
    or clients with a more complex array of presenting problems.
  • Plan daily, weekly, and monthly activities of the centre in consultation with
    staff.
  • Supervise and monitor workload of support staff and report any
    discrepancies and problems to The House Manager.
  • Provide on-going consultation coaching and support to all counselors’, full-
    time and contract.
  • Provide necessary data for the preparation of budget submissions.

Qualifications:

  • Lived experience of addiction and recovery and active involvement in a 12-Step program for alcoholism/addiction required.
  • A minimum of three years of continuous sobriety is required.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft word and excel.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written are essential, including an ability to share life experience for the benefit of the clients.
  • University degree or College diploma in one of the social sciences or a health-related discipline, or the equivalent in work experience.
  • Completion of course-work for certification as an Addiction Counsellor is required.
  • Some previous management/supervisory experience would be an asset but is not essential.
